The date set for the 200
6 Race is Saturday, 24th June.

From " Pub To Port”

Each year in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, the Black Rock Stakes wheelbarrow race is run.  Since 1971 the race has become a tradition and each year it attracts considerable local and interstate interest.

The event takes place during both day and evening hours on the Saturday.  Lone runners are usually the first to start the run in the morning with other teams starting through the afternoon.

The Pilbara Black Rock Stakes has raised in excess of $800 000 for local community groups and organisations.

Each year local businesses and the community in general place their full support behind the Black Rock Stakes through donations, sponsorship and in kind support. The Pilbara Black Rock Stakes could not be held without the generous support of: Town of Port Hedland, BHPBIO, PHPA, Straits Resources Whim Creek, RSL, ESS NYFL, Skywest, Horizon Power, Spirit Network, GWN, BGC, Debare Fashion, Chuck Garvey, Pilbara Motor Group, All Seasons, Excel Resources, North West Telegraph, Coates Hire, Water Corporation, David Hooper-artist, Masonic Lodge as well as all the support given by many to all the teams participating.

Special thanks to the Port Hedland Volunteer State Emergency Service, St Johns Ambulance, Port Hedland Army and Navy Cadets, WA Police and assistance given by many volunteers to ensure a safe event.

Thank you to one and all.
